What are the best xp farms in 1.14

  • #1 May 21, 2019

I am playing on a survival server with my friends, and we are looking to create a community xp farm that is extremely fast. I've done alot of looking around and there are alot of xp farm builds for 1.14, but I couldn't really find any good ones that were extremely fast. Anyone know of a crazy fast xp farm that works in 1.14 survival? Don't care how complex it, we can build it.

Not sure on how fast farms can be.. most 'High yield XP farms' videos I see are build in a void world (or similar) or in Spawn chunks - so don't give 'true' values

Mob wise though you can look at the Wiki & see which mobs give high XP drops, but you need to take into consideration on the resources in getting the Mob in the first place

eg Kill a Dragon can get you 500Xp when re-spawned with End crystal but the time to kill would be slow, while a Blaze farm would give you 10xp/mob & you just have to rely on the speed of the spawner to drop Blazes into a kill zone..

You can also get XP from smelting stuff & furnaces actually 'store' XP until you remove the items from it... Xumavoid did a video showing this...so I guess you could come up with some form of Auto farm that auto fills with smelt-able stuff (cactus & Kelp grow fairly fast) with an infinite fuel (Bamboo is also fast)
    - it'll take time to smelt but you could be off doing something else while it's doing this then go back & pick items from furnace & get a lump XP .. only problem would be you'll need to manually 'reset' the furnace once the items were taken out

I would say the 'best' farms for high XP with fairly fast spawn rates would be a Guardian or Blaze farm, or have clerics with XP bottle for trade & a 'cheap' villager to get emerald (eg Librarian for paper or farmer with melons) - but with 1.14 they take a 'day' to reset their trades unlike before when they reset locked trade after completing another trade

I'm thinking like ilmangos zombie pigman farm, but I'm just not sure if that will work in 1.14. If there are other similarly clocked builds that would be ideal. The problem with that farm is there are some bugs in 1.14, and it is less as perfect of a build. I just found gnembon's enderman farm which works in 1.14. That is definitely a great candidate, it's also very simple. Still open for anything better. I just felt like there was little info about xp farms in 1.14.

You could use an enderman farm

It worked more efficiently in 1.13 but it still works very well

My kelp farm is by far the best way to make exp

When you use that w/ a furnace loop or some other type of automatic furnaces, once you get it primed you can feed the kelp blocks backinto the furnace as fuel.

I use it to repair my mending stuff and after letting it run for a day each furnace in my 20 or so furnace loop can fix a completely destroyed pickaxe.

Enderman farm in the End. Fairly straightforward to build, easy to maintain, fast and reliable, produces something fairly useful (enderpearls for making enderchests and pearl-teleporting all over the place) and gets you a ton of XP fairly fast. When they work well, they can literally produce XP faster than your player can absorb it, but they seem to have been slightly nerfed somehow recently and aren't quite THAT fast any more. Still pretty darn fast, though.

As a bonus, although they can be somewhat of a pain to get to (gotta go to the nearest stronghold, which may be a kilometer or more away in the overworld) but once you're done using the grinder, it's pretty darn quick to get back to your overworld base, assuming that's where you last slept in a still-intact bed.

You won't get XP from an auto smelter unless you manually remove something from the furnace gui.

    From the wiki;

"The smelted material must be taken

from the furnace through its GUI window. If the player use a hopper to unload the furnace, it is possible to retrieve all experience produced by the furnace by smelting an extra item and taking it from the GUI. Dumping the contents by breaking the furnace destroys the experience."

I personally mine Quartz and killed everything I saw while traversing the nether (before attempting to fight the dragon) to gain experience. It takes around 20 minutes to go from level 0 to level 30.

If you have access to the end then you'd be crazy to not farm endermen.

I think a guardian farm is one of the most powerful xp farms but it's a pain in the ass to build. If you want to here is a video from cubfan135. I do recommend it!
